Biography
From the bank’s side of the desk to the family’s.
Ron Harris was born in Los Angeles and earned his master’s degree in global marketing and communications at the University of Essex in the United Kingdom. For more than two decades he built marketing and financial strategy for organisations from venture-backed startups to Fortune 500 companies, including Union Bank of California, Prudential, the Dial Corporation, Sunkist, and the broadcast stations KCBS, KCAL and KTLA. That work taught him how money, marketing and institutional power move through the American economy.
His research into how major U.S. banks use cash-value life insurance, the bank-owned life insurance programs they hold in the tens of billions of dollars, showed him a structure that institutions had used for over a century and that ordinary households had never been shown. When the tax rules governing life insurance were rewritten, Ron saw that the same structure had become practical for a family. He spent the following years assembling the policy designs, the technology and the teaching that became Hybrid Financial Arbitrage.
He founded Financial Literacy Group, LLC, in Los Angeles to bring that work to the people it was built for. His stated aim is simple: help the people who work on Main Street manage their money the way people on Wall Street always have. He has travelled across the United States and to more than forty countries to study the structural causes of wealth disparity, and he has turned what he found into courses, workshops and the plan at the centre of The New American Dream.
Ron is a Certified Financial Educator (CFEI) and a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) certified entrepreneur. He is also affiliated with Betterment Inc, a consumer financial-wellness company in the Financial Literacy Group family. He speaks at conferences, corporate events, community organisations and university programs on financial literacy, retirement planning and the wealth gap, and journalists and podcast hosts seek him out as one of the few public voices who can explain the institutional history of cash-value life insurance in language a family can act on.
The New American Dream, published in 2026, is his most complete work and the first full public treatment of the plan written for ordinary households. His earlier books cover debt elimination, funding a child’s education without student loans, and family financial wellness.
Ron works on a mission to close the wealth gap in America, one family at a time.
“The wealth gap in America is not primarily a gap of income or effort. It is a gap of access: access to information, structures, and the financial machinery the wealthy have always taken for granted.”
